1916 Twin City "25" Tractor
The Twin City "25" tractor was manufactured by the Minneapolis Steel
and Machinery Company of Minneapolis, Minnesota, from 1913 to 1920.
It featured a 6 1/4 x 8 inch 4-cylinder Twin City engine, with the
cylinders cast in pairs. Normal engine operating speed was 600 rpm,
and it developed 25 horsepower on the drawbar and 45 horsepower on
the belt. The tractor weighed approximately 16,000 pounds,
stood almost 11 feet tall (to the top of the canopy), and was over 18
feet long and 6 feet wide. According to Pazandak, the Twin City
"25" was designed to burn low-grade fuels, and included a 66 gallon fuel
tank. Other features were two forward and reverse speeds, force-feed
lubrication, and a massive 86 gallon water tank for cooling. The Twin
City "25" was a smaller version of the Twin City "40" tractor, and
was rated to pull a six bottom plow under normal conditions. In 1917,
the Twin City "25" sold for the substantial price of $3,850.
