Photographs of rural and small town America during the late 1930s and scenes of the defense and war mobilization effort from 1939-1944. Topics include agriculture, factory work (including women and African Americans in defense industries), county fairs, cattlemen, sheep-herders, surplus commodity distribution, dam construction, gold mining camps, migrant workers' shacks, tobacco, farm cooperatives, and more.
