Scan date. Date of scanning
Aggregate. Identifier for the series (subseries) of the collection, as outlined in the finding aid. All materials digitized from each series (subseries) are aggregated in a group that is analogous to a directory in a computer file tree. For reference, when the Library creates bibliographic records for digitized materials, the aggregate name is recorded in MARC field 856, subfield d.
Control number. Identifier for the image
Physical item number. Identifier for the item (which often includes multiple images). For reference, when the Library creates bibliographic records for digitized materials, the aggregate name is recorded in MARC field 856, subfield f.
Item type. Material type, e.g., production notebook, photographic negative
Note. Specific descriptive information, e.g., title and page number for a multi-page item
Relation of parts (the "D" field). Indicates relationship of parts when a single page is scanned in segments or a recto and verso. Field content DF, for example, means that this image is the front of an item; the image recorded as DB is the back.
Title. Identifies the play to which this item is related; field content is limited to the three plays covered by the IBM activity: Macbeth, Dr. Faustus, and Power.
City. City in which the theatrical production was mounted.
Finding aid number. A numerical string that identifies the storage container in which the original item is housed, the position of the item in the sequence of items stored in the container, and the page or image number. For example, the data 1001.1.9.2 means container 1001, first item scanned, ninth subsection of the item, and second page of the ninth subsection.
Restriction Field. Intended to record information about special restrictions on access; in this activity, no differentiating information was entered about individual items.
