Ordered, That the nominations of Frederick Wolf, J. H. Bartholf, and James A. Williamson be referred to the Committee on Military Affairs and the Militia.

Ordered, That the nominations of Benjamin Moran, Dennis R. Alward, and Jeremiah Curtin be referred to the Committee on Foreign Relations.

Ordered, That the nominations of William T. Minor. J. H. Goodenow, George J. Abbott, James Faxon, Henry S. Wetmore, James H. McColley, Daniel K. Hobart, James Weldon, David Thurston, A. Augustus Porter, Charles H. Powers, William L. Raymond, Jacob Springsteed, A. P. Henry, A. W. Thayer, Charles Wild, Sylvanus B. Hance, Isaac J. Allen, J. M. Bailey, and Horace N. Congar be referred to the Committee on Commerce.

Mr. Sprague, from the Committee on Military Affairs and the Militia, to whom was referred, the 6th instant, the nomination of J. B. M. Potter, reported favorably thereon.

Whereupon

Resolved, That the Senate advise and consent to the appointment of J. B. M. Potter, agreeably to the nomination.

The Senate proceeded to consider the nomination of Archy G. Turner; and

Resolved, That the Senate do not advise and consent to the appointment of Archy G. Turner.

The Senate proceeded to consider the nominations of E. Knight Sperry, John L. Near, Hiram Dunn, Andrew Van Dyck, James A. Magruder, W. J. Stillman, Frank Swan, and James E. Wheaton; and

Resolved, That the Senate advise and consent to the appointment of the said persons, agreeably to their nominations respectively.
