The Senate resumed the nomination of R. B. Stark, postponed yesterday.

Resolved, That they advise and consent thereto.

Ordered, That the Secretary make return on the message of June 14th, to the President of the United States.

The Senate resumed the consideration of the message of the President of the United States, nominating John M. Fortier, and others.

Resolved, That they advise and consent to the appointments, agreeably to the nominations respectively.

Ordered, That the Secretary lay this resolution before the President of the United States.

On motion of Mr. Reed, to reconsider certain nominations, agreed to on the 21st;

It was objected to by Mr. Anderson, as against the rule; and,

On motion by Mr. Reed, that the rule, on the subject of reconsidering votes, be suspended on the present occasion;

It was determined in the negative.

The following written message was received from the President of the United States, by Mr. Graham:

To the Senate of the United States:

I nominate Col. Anthony Lamb, of the State of New York, to be Military Agent for the Northern Department of the United States.

JAMES MADISON.

June 28th, 1809.

The message was read.

Resolved, unanimously, That the Senate advise and consent to the appointment.

Ordered, That the Secretary lay this resolution before the President of the United States.
