Senate Executive Journal --MONDAY, December 2, 1811.
The Senate resumed the consideration of the nomination of John R. Fenwick, contained in the message of the President of the United States, of the 20th November; and,
On the question, "Will the Senate advise and consent to the appointment, agreeably to the nomination?"
It was determined in the affirmative: Yeas, 24; Nays, 8.
On motion by Mr. Reed,
The yeas and nays having been required by one-fifth of the Senators,
Those who voted in the affirmative, are--Messrs. Bayard, Bibb, Bradley, Brent, Campbell, of Ohio, Condit, Crawford, Cutts, Dana, Franklin, Giles, Gilman, Goodrich, Howell, Hunter, Lambert, Pope, Robinson, Smith, of Maryland, Smith of New York, Tait, Taylor, Turner, and Worthington.
Those who voted in the negative, are--Messrs. Anderson, Gaillard, German, Gregg, Leib, Lloyd, Reed, and Varnum.
So it was
Resolved, That the Senate do advise and consent to the appointment, agreeably to the nomination.

Ordered, That the Secretary lay this resolution before the President of the United States.
