NOTES
George Louis Palmella Busson Du Maurier (1834-1896), novelist, actor and artist, born in Paris, was a contributor to Punch from 1860. Dodgson was personally acquainted with him and sent him the text of the French translation of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1869) for his comments.
