A benefit performance given by Charles Dickens (1812-1870) in aid of the memorial fund for the dramatist, Douglas William Jerrold (1803-1857). A number of other actors, professional as well as amateur, took part, including Wilkie Collins, Mark Lemon, Edward Pigat, and Kate Terry.
