Opening of the International Exhibition.

NOTES
Tennyson's poem, sung to the music of William Sterndale Bennett (1816-1875) D.Mus. Cambridge, to mark the opening of the International Exhibition in London. The Exhibition of the Industry of all Nations officially opened on May 1, 1862. Dodgson's first recorded visit to the Exhibition took place on June 21, 1862. He went again on July 5, 7 and 8. Attendance records for each day frequently topped 60,000 people.
