Notes
Interview with Vincent Landi, owner of Garden State Cutting Co. on Gray Street at 21st Avenue.
Summary of audio segment: TC asks VL to describe the work of his company. VL says a garment is created, shown to a buyer, an order is placed with the manufacturer. The cost sheet is put together, and a cutting ticket to purchase all ingredients. A cutting ticket is assigned to the cutting room, and the raw materials arrive right behind it as ordered by the manufacturer. GSC does mathematical formulas to organize production, material is spread, cut, bundled, and shipped all over the world for sewing. Some sewing is done in Paterson, and also South Jersey, South Carolina, the Caribbean, Columbia, all over the world for assembly. Then it comes back as a finished garment, either here [to GSC] or to Manhattan, where it's shipped to a retail outlet or store for sale.
