SUMMARY
This socioeconomic study compares different groups of farm families and analyzes the relationships among material desires, the use of time as a factor in the standard of living, and the use of price averages in farm families' household planning. The document brings together a number of separate studies undertaken by the U.S. Department of Agriculture in conjunction with twelve colleges and universities. As a whole, the investigation covers eleven states in New England, the South, and the Midwest and a range of farm families including those of farm owners, tenants, and workers.
