Notes
Les Stewart describes what kinds of ranching options exist and about the cow-calf operation at the 96 Ranch. Recorded in a barn on the 96 Ranch.
The Ninety-Six combines aspects of a classic cow-calf operation, in which calves are sold shortly after weaning, with a yearling operation, in which calves are sold a year later. After offering the explanation heard here, Les went on to say that he weans calves at seven to nine months when they weigh about 400 pounds. If there are smaller weaners, he keeps them on the range for two summers until they reach 550 or 600 pounds.
