How did you choose the materials used in your quilt? "Selected Columbis' commemorative fabrics, other patriotic fabrics produced for current event (1992, 1993)."
This quilt commemorates the Sesquicentennial of Christopher Columbus' landing in New World (1492-1992).
How long have you been making quilts? "Since 1987."
How did you learn to quilt? "Saw a quilt magazine, later found and bought a pattern to make baby quilt for first grandchild, took a quilting class, then I was off and running ever since!"
What was your primary reason for entering the Lands' End contest? Do you frequently enter your quilts in competition? "I thought my quilt fit the theme."
Has being a winner in the Land's End contest made a difference in your life? Has it changed the way you look at your work as a quilt maker? "Yes - Yes - Yes. I have the contest poster framed. My quilt has been shown on a t.v. program (Lifetime Channel), an article was solicited and published in 'Quilting Today' Magazine (#66), a local newspaper (Picayugne) wrote an article, 'Quilt Tsushin' (Japan) wrote a highlight (#87)."
