(INSERT)

On October 25, 1925, Mrs. Coolidge presented a little book to me. It was to take the place of a similar book which my mother gave me as a boy, which I carried for many years, including France in the war. It was always with me wherever I went in all the fighting. Due to the soaking I got in my clothes many times, exposure, and lying in the woods in the fighting and out in the open field, the book became pretty much disintegrated. I told Mrs. Coolidge about this book from my mother, and one day she surprised me and said, "I think that should be replaced," and she brought this book to me. The flyleaf had nothing on it but "J. T. Boone", and opposite, "G.C." in her own handwriting. I prize the book and always have her in mind when I read from it, which has been my custom twice a day ever since she gave it to me. To have my dear mother and Mrs. Coolidge related by these two meaningful books has always been a source of comfort.
