The papers of the Price family span the years 1854-1905 and include correspondence, financial records, genealogical material, photographs, poetry, recipes, a diary, memorial card, and military circulars, orders, commission, and discharge record. The papers are chiefly those of William George Price (1833-1885) of Orange County, New York, a sergeant in the 124th New York Infantry Regiment; John H. Price of Williamsport, Pennsylvania, a captain in the Eighth Pennsylvania Cavalry; and William George Price (1867-1944) of Port Jervis, New York. The John H. Price material includes a Civil War diary and an order book containing circulars and orders issued by Colonel M. M. Gregg of the Eighth Pennsylvania Cavalry. The latter pages of the order book contain financial records, poetry, and recipes of William George Price (1867-1944). The William George Price (1833-1885) material includes letters written during the Civil War to his father and his wife, Martha (Wood) Price, pages from his Bible, his military commission, and discharge record. The papers also contain a memorial card for Nelly Wood (d. 1854) and photographs of John H. Price, William George Price (1833-1885), Martha (Wood) Price, and unidentified family members.
