NOTES
Letter dated November 25, 1854, from Robert Owen (1771-1858), socialist reformer, in which he called for an organisation (along the lines of the United Nations). He announced a meeting at St. Martin's Hall to hear explained "Glad Tidings of Great Joy to All Mankind." Afterwards he published a series of tracts called "The Millennial Gazette." He was converted to spiritualism by a medium in America in 1854, and began the "New Existence of Man upon Earth," of which eight parts were published.
