NOTES
Convocation met to chose the Select Preachers at the University for the period 1872-73, and most names were agreed to without dissent. When it came to Arthur Penrhyn Stanley, a division was called to determine whether he had majority support. The voting showed that he did have the support of convocation, and he was duly chosen.
