Illustrated Melbourne Post. [October 26, 1867]. Pages147-148.

CREATED/PUBLISHED
October 26, 1867

NOTES
Page 148 contains a report on the Rt. Rev. Augustus Short DD, of Christ Church, Oxford, consecrated as Lord Bishop of Adelaide in 1847, noting that he was the head of a purely voluntary aided church without financial support from other sources. There is a manuscript marginal note not in Dodgson's hand against this item. An engraving shows a portrait of Augustus Short (1802-1883). His time at Christ Church (MA 1826, censor 1833, Bampton lecturer 1846) fits more closely Dodgson's father's era. Dodgson is unlikely to have met him except if the Bishop made visits back to Oxford.
