Photographs
Images from the Library of Congress’ New York World-Telegram & Sun Collection were scanned at 600 dpi by JJT, Inc., of Plymouth, Massachusetts, using a Sinar 54 overhead digital camera. The images were processed using proprietary software algorithms and delivered as TIFF images displaying at 400 ppi.
Images from the Special Collections Research Center at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale’s Morris Library were delivered as TIFF images displaying at 300 ppi.
One image from the Jerome Robbins Dance Division, The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, Astor, Lenox and Tilden Foundations, was delivered as a TIFF image displaying at 400 ppi.
Images from the Missouri Historical Society in St. Louis were delivered as TIFF images displaying at 72 ppi.
Derivative JPEG images were created by project staff.
Video Clips
Web clips were produced by Q Media, Inc., of Washington, D.C., from U-MATIC/Beta-SP and Beta/VHS film and were delivered as MPEG2 at 3 mbps at 720 by 480 – 30fps Mono Audio. RealMedia encoding was performed by Digital Conversion Group staff.
