- This work is classified as a "tone poem" but it is more of an atmospheric study rather than a musical depiction of specific events. Part of the original source material included a vision of an old train station, long abandoned, with the ghosts of former passengers crowding the platform waiting for the train to arrive. The train arrives, the horn blares, the bell clangs but it passes them by and leaves them on the platform, abandoned forever.
