- Summary
- Sibelius' two suites enttitled <i>Scènes historiques</i> have origins all the way back to 1899. The composer compiled two suites of three numbers each in 1911-1912. Each was given its premiere with the composer directing the Helsinki Philharmonic and sson published in two adjacent years (1912 and 1913) with widely-spaced opus numbers. Now available for the first time in a reasonably priced study score, these digitally-enhanced reprints will be a favorite of Sibelius fans along with anyone who likes to view Finnish composer's superb orchestrational skills in action.
