Summary
An unusual jazz waltz that provides a nice contrast to the usual jazz fare. The melody is a feature for your two altos (optional flutes), and the jazz solo(s) can also be on either alto or flute. The style is very light with rhythmic figures that include lots of four against three. The introduction begins in a rhythmically obscure manner, working its way to the clear jazz waltz style of the tune. Drummer can play on brushes throughout or switch to sticks in the fuller sections. A very subtle and tasty chart! Grade 4. Medium-up Jazz Waltz. Keys of F, Ab, Bb. Trumpet to written C.
