- Summary
- Lyadov compposed his suite of Eight Russian Folk songs in 1905 after various trips collecting folks songs throughout his native Russia. Premiered on March 10, 1905 in St. Petersburg, these wonderfully orchestrated pieces show his brilliant colorful style through the deeply religious setting to the whimsical in this set, making this one of his most popular works. This newly engraved score by Richard W. Sargeant Jr., a superb addition to the Serenissima catalogue, will be a favorite for those interested in Russian masterworks.
