- The owl is the twelfth and final work from De Mes Amis, Les Animaux. As a concluding piece to the set, and with more than a passing nod to "Der Dichter sprict" from Schumann's Kinderszenen, the emotion is rather bitersweet as we bid farewell to our animal friends. The piece explores voicing: chorale-like textures, concurrent melodies, and multiple voices challenge the performer in this highly reflective and soul-searching work.
