- Summary
- Intended for beginning to intermediate players, the Five Etudes are studies for the ukulele. They feature certain unchanging left-hand shapes and right-hand fingerpicking and strumming patterns. Each etude is a destination in an emotional journey, beginning with one conundrum and ending with another. The numerical formula in parentheses refers to the number of stopped and open strings. The pieces are meant to be performed on a soprano, concert, or tenor ukulele in re-entrant (high G) standard tuning, with at least 17 frets. If an instrument of this size is not available, alternatives (marked "ossia") are provided for passages above the 12th fret. A glossary of musical terms is included. --
