- Summary
- Venezuelan Postcard (2010) was written around 2010. It was dedicated to the French saxophonist Philippe Portejoie. The piece is short, as any postcard should be, and presents a little taste of a Venezuelan traditional Joropo. A traditional Venezuelan Joropo is a brisky dance and music style in 3/4, 6/8, or both. The melody, mainly in the Saxophone, is built on top of a recurrent harmonic sequence. Because the melody can alternate modes and moods, it sounds like an improvisation. The piece ends with a frenzy musical material in both the piano and the saxophone.
- Notes
