- Summary
- Twinkle, twinkle, little Star (2020) is an old popular tune from Europe. Some believe it originated in France, although different versions of the melody can be heard in Germany, Turkey, Hungary, and Spain. Even Mozart wrote a set of 12 variations for piano based on this theme. The name of the French melody is “Ah, vous Dirai-Je, Mamam,” which translates to “Shall I tell you, mother?” Probably due to its simplicity, beauty, and narrow melodic range, it has been used as musical material for nursery rhymes. The present arrangement contains a set of variations, including one influenced by jazz, and it features each of the woodwind trio instruments as a soloist.
