- Summary
- Tutu song (2008) was composed for his first niece, nicknamed “Tutu,” when she was four years old. A simple, yet strikingly beautiful melody recalls a tender early moment of life, and captures the singular joy of watching a child sleep. Perfectly set for three players, the Brahmsian melody is presented throughout by the clarinet, the instrument of Tutu’s father, accompanied playfully by flute (uncle Javier’s instrument) and bassoon. Evocative of a lullaby, the intimate piece stands strongly on its own for a concert recital.
