- Baroque Suite for unaccompanied cello was written in the closing weeks of 1964 and completed in early 1965 as a wedding present from the composer to her husband, cellist Kermit Moore. -- It is an early work of hers, composed a year after her graduation from Howard University, nestled between her arrival in New York City, her term of study with Nadia Boulanger at the American Conservatory at Fontainebleau, and meeting Kermit.
