Produced by Smithsonian Performing Arts' "American Dance Experience" series. Videotaped April 4, 1982 during a performance in Baird Auditorium, Museum of National History, Washington DC. Performed by Jazz Tap Ensemble and guest artist Charles "Honi" Coles with the Jazz Tap Ensemble of three musicians and three dancers. Coles dances, talks and sings.
Dancers Lynn Dally, Fred Strickler, Camden Richman, Paul Arslanian (piano), Ted Dannenberg (bass), Keith Terry (drums)
Dance excerpts include:
"'Bout a Mil" danced by Dally and Strickler;
"Spoon River" danced by Dally;
a duet danced by Richman and Arslanian; and
group dances by Coles and the Ensemble.
Terry and Arslanian also illustrate a talk on musical poly-rhythms with a combination of hand clapping, slapping and stamping. - Source
