- Abstract
- The Academy Foundation presented yet another event at the AMPAS recalling the Academy Awards for best dance direction from 1935-37. Nearly ten years after the previous retrospective, the nostalgic evening contained memories from Hermes Pan and Ruby Keeler, introductions of Marge Champion, Cyd Charisse, Ann Miller, Gene Nelson, Mirian Nelson, the Nicholas Brothers, Sheree North, and Onna White, and dazzling film clips ro remind all of the contributions made to film by choreographers and dance directors--and a bitter reminder of how the industry refused to acknowledge them.
