June 23-25 1995. Artistry in Motion in conjunction with the National Association of Dance and Affiliated Artists held the first ever Detroit Tap Festival. Hosted by Lloyd Storey. With workshops, master classes, panel discussion and tap jam. Workshop classes were held in Flint, MI. The tap show "Rhythm in Motion" was held at the Millennium Theater in Southfield. Classes were held by Lloyd Storey, Lane Alexander, Robert L. Reed, Van "The Man" Porter was assisted by Liz Ramos. Harriet Browne taught a class in sand dancing. Dianne Walker also taught rhythm tap. The show began with local groups then tap masters performed. Featuring Dianne Walker improvising with a drummer, Robert Reed and family, including Robert L. walking off stage and down stage steps entirely on his hands, Lane Alexander demonstrating an Irish step, Van Porter, Liz Ramos, Harriet Brown, Lloyd Storey and The Sultans. Guest of Honor, Maceo Anderson with special presentation in his honor. Performance at the Millenium Theater, Metro Detroit.
