- Abstract
- From the Brooklyn Daily Eagle (March 3, 1895): "The grand cake walk and jubilee of the National Ethiopian Amusement company at Madison Square Garden, last evening was a very recherche affair and proved attractive enough to draw some six thousand persons to the big building.
Almost every number was encored, and when the buck and wing dancing began the audience went wild with delight. The climax was, however, reached at the close of the cake walk. The gathering was a very mixed one and contained a large proportion of colored persons, and these became tremendously excited as the contest grew keen. It was midnight when the entertainment concluded.
