- New York Amsterdam News 7/10/1937:
"Teddy Hale (who waw comically called the Ted Lewis, Jr.) and "Snowball" Whitier are currently appearing with Ted Lewis and his famous band at the Astor Roof."
Tap dancer LeVaughan Robinson recalled: Ted Lewis (Theodore Leonard), white vaudevillian bandleader and singer sang "Me and My Show" with tap dancer Teddy Hale playing the role of the shadow. Lewis' trademark was a top hat and his catch phrase, "Is Everybody Happy?"
