- Abstract
- Morton Gould and the orchestra perform Gould's Concerto for Tap Dance, accompanied by dancer Michael Dominico for American Musical Theatre, the educational affairs series that traces the career of artists.
Last Movement/Fourth Movement: this thin and tall dancer wears the shoes of a male flamenco dancer; his sounds are overly loud and high-pitched with lots of stamps; many of the passages are note-for-note; very lean sound; this last movement requires quick responses of dance and orchestra. The taps are not phrased rhythmically so much as used as a melodic instrument; danced as a call and response to the structure.
