Bill Evans Dance company presenting a number of works chor. by Evans, including
"Piano Rags" set to Scott Joplin and danced by Miss Jenkins and Mr. Evans, was a parody of the tap-dance routines that might have been performed by a slightly seedy vaudeville team. "The facetious choreography demeaned the music. Yet one of the accomplishments of the Scott Joplin revival was the demonstration that, far from being merely honky-tonk tunes, his rags could be taken seriously."
(Jack Anderson, "Dance: Bill Evans Group Pays Visist From Seattle" New York Times 28 May 1979, C13).
