- From 1989 to 1995, the American Tap Dance Orchestra operated Woodpecker's Tap Dance Center in Soho, which quickly became recognized as a vital force in advancing tap artistry. The center presented year-round programming of performances, workshops, and master classes, daily classes for adults and children, festivals, tap jams, lectures, video archive presentations and visual arts exhibitions. It was the training ground for man of today's leading tap dancers and also became a model for numerous organizations and dance programs all over the world.
Directed by Brenda Bufalino, with members of her American Tap Dance Orchestra, opens in 1989 with the most-acoustically-refined tap dance floor. Closes 1995.
On November 10-12, 1989, American Tap Dance Orchestra presented Workshop With the Masters. - Source
