- August 10-13, 1987. Members of DancEllington tap ensemble: artistic director Mercedes Ellington; with Debbie Rimeo, Bernard Johnson, John Fredo.
Ms. Ellington, a dancer and singer with a long Broadway track record, has set herself the task of "perpetuating the heritage of tap dancing, and bringing it into the 21st century." And her dancers--clad in pink satin and ruffles--will further this aim with four eclectic evenings of works choreographed to music by Bach, Miles Davis and Steve Winwood and a citified rendition of "Little Red Riding Hood" to Duke Ellington's "Pretty and the Wolf."
