- Abstract
- Alessandro Liberati (1847-1927) was a major figure in band music from the late nineteenth to the early twentieth century. Although John Philip Sousa would later eclipse him in fame, he held Liberati in high regard. This collection, acquired in 1991, complements the Sousa Collection and the Francis Maria Scala Collection, also held by the Music Division. Materials include music (song and march manuscripts, sheet music, and bound volumes), correspondence to and from Liberati (1887-1926), personal and professional iconography, and miscellaneous items such as books, programs (1882-1928), a scrapbook and loose clippings (1879-1897).
