- The Heineman Foundation Collection in honor of former Music Division Chief Edward N. Waters includes manuscript and imprint scores, rare books, and correspondence dating from the late fifteenth to the mid-twentieth centuries. Containing over 200 items acquired between 1960 and 1992 through donations by the Heineman Foundation, the collection's treasures include Tinctoris' Terminorum musicae diffinitorium (1495), a copy of the first printed libretto of Handel's Messiah, and music by Hasse, Cimarosa, Liszt, Brahms, and Webern. All items are catalogued under the general call number ML31.H43 Case.
