Legacy of Film The George Lucas Star Wars family on a picnic in the woods of California's beautiful Sixth District |
Local Legacies of the 6th Congressional District
A film, Legacy of Music, Film and the Environment, highlights the culture of Marin and Sonoma
Counties and commemorates their contributions music, film and
the environment.
To highlight the counties' musical contributions, the
project will include a videotape of a concert featuring popular
music performers who live in the area and a virtual tour of a model
of Tanglewood West--a music, dance, and drama performance center
that is being built by Sonoma State University. A collection of
memorabilia from the locality's days as a venue for the big bands
is also included. The contributions of the film industry will be
illustrated through clips from movies filmed in northern California
such as The Birds, Vertigo,
Star Wars, and
Star Trek episodes, along with taped interviews with
directors, actors, and craftspeople who live and work in the Sixth
District. Finally, the dedication to the environment in Marin and
Sonoma counties will be shown through the Sixth District as home to
the Golden Gate Bridge, half of the Golden Gate National Recreation
Area, the Point Reyes National Seashore, the breathtaking Russian
River Recreation Area, and state and county parks. Other subjects
include the unspoiled ocean coasts of the two counties, forever
protected by California laws; the vineyards and orchards of Sonoma
county; and the dairies of Marin.
