The World's Largest Salmon Barbecue:
A Tribute to Michael Maahs
The world's largest salmon barbecue is a day-long
annual barbecue at Fort Bragg on the Mendocino Coast. More than
5,000 pounds of fish, 5,000 ears of corn, 1,000 pounds of salad,
and 850 loaves of bread are served. The event raises funds in
support of the Salmon Restoration Association's efforts to
replenish the salmon in northern California coastal waters. The
project is dedicated to Michael Maahs who dedicated his life to
salmon restoration efforts. In March 2000, Mr. Maahs met an
untimely death doing what he loved most, fishing.
The project is documented with 22 pages of text, 16
photographs and 16 slides.
