Monday Night Jazz Series and Greater Hartford Festival of Jazz
This
summer concert series presents nationally and internationally
renowned musicians as well as local talent in celebration of the
uniquely American musical form of jazz. Said to be the oldest
continually running jazz festival in the country, it has taken
place in Bushnell Park for 33 years. The Greater Hartford Festival
of Jazz, a weekend of free performances, was initiated eight years
ago by the organizers of the Monday Night Jazz Series.
Included in project documentation is a five-page
report, a list of headliners at the event from 1967 - 1999, four
photos, 20 color slides, newspaper articles, a videotape of the
Greater Hartford Jazz Fest entitled "On the Water," a videotape of
the Ellington Orchestra at the 1994 jazz festival, and an
audiocassette of Mickey Tucker at the West Indian Social Club.
