Natural Lands, Native Peoples:
Images of the American Frontier
Marks the bicentennial of the Lewis and Clark
Expedition, which has a special meaning to St. Louis as the
historical gateway to the West. The Mercantile Library's large
collection of western art will provide the images for the digital
project. Paintings by George Catlin and Charles Deas will be
included, as will texts by Karl Bodmer, Henry Lewis, and
others.
