Leadership Newark

This community-based non-profit organization was established in 1997 to develop and enhance leadership skills of individuals committed to the city of Newark. It offers a two-year training program that focuses on key issues affecting the city through seminars, team building sessions, and skills development workshops. The participants are professionals in the early stages of their careers who have shown potential to make positive contributions to the city. Approximately 40 emerging leaders are selected annually for participation by a board of prominent leaders from diverse sectors of the community. The first class was admitted in fall of 1998. The curriculum focuses on such areas as education, the environment, public safety and criminal justice, community development, and economic development.
