Montauk Point Lighthouse Museum
Open to
the public as a museum today, the lighthouse was built in 1796 and
underwent significant restoration and erosion control during the
late 1990's. The legacy of the historical structure is documented
on video, in various reports describing its restoration, and in a
booklet published for its bicentennial in 1996. Also included is
the book
Bully!, which tells the story of the Rough Riders
under Theodore Roosevelt at nearby Camp Wikoff.
