Pro Football Hall of Fame
At the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio,
it is a year-round job to choose each class' picks for
enshrinement. A player must be retired from the game for five years
before becoming eligible. Each year, the Hall builds files on the
players who will be eligible for the first time that year.
The 36-member Hall of Fame Board of Selectors,
consisting of one media member from each of the NFL's 30 cities and
six at-large delegates, receives the list of 14 modern-era players
and one nomination from the Senior Committee. A class of not more
than seven and no fewer than four will be inducted on the steps of
the Hall during the induction ceremony in August. In conjunction
with the induction, a Hall of Fame Festival is held, with events
ranging from a "food fest" to a balloon classic to a pageant for
the crowning of a Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival Queen.
