nical marvel of engeneering [sic]. In our planes there is simply a can into which you insert a waxed paper bag. The bag is removed in due time, the hatch is opened in the belly of the plane and out it goes - "and look out below, you fishes.' But take a sub now. Whenever the crew feels the urge the sub may well below the surface a hundred feet and the only way to get rid of it is to blow it out with compressed air - just as water is blown out of the ballast tanks when the sub surfaces. Well, you turn a valve and let in some water, another for air, being careful to get the right pressure, a few more valves and you are all set to blow it out. If the combination is right, alls well, if its not stand clear or get sprayed. So it takes a technician to take a [blank space] on a sub.
