& besides, I have little time for odds & ends jobs. As far as that confidential & secret stuff as concerned, I can't even comprehend it; almost all of it is highly technical & involved & would & does require an ordnance expert to understand it.
Our bane or pain is our next in command, a commander, who is a flight officer & evidently is still suffering from some mishap--his nose shows evidence of plastic surgery. We call him Stony Glare becaues he always stares at one with a glazed expression; I never know whether he's thinking or in a coma. This type of work is new to him & he is quite muddled about it--*but* extremely technical & exacting as to Navy form.
Anyway, I did get a chance to slip into the barbershop on the Pittsburgh & get the best haircut I've ever received in the Navy--no charge tho [sic] I slipped the barber a tip (which is against the rules). I went down 3 decks today to the radio room--& there's a few more decks below that I've yet to see.
("Flag Allowance" means top headquarters, like Staff HQ. We're the apex of the hierarchy in our command.)
