Dear Mom and Dad,

I received your letters of April 22 and 23 today. I'm glad to hear that you're having such a grand time in Rock Island.

Out here we don't have enough troubles. They had to give us another OP to take care of, OP 38. Today we had to lay two lines to this new outpost. After that we had other lines out so all in all, we had a pretty busy day. I was only able to get about 25 minutes sleep.

Well, here we are already into May. I hope this month will go by as quick as April did. The end of April leaves me with ten points. I'm still looking toward twenty-six more. I hope to get four in May. I have one day in already. I still need fifteen more. If we get 16 days a month up front, we get four points.

I also received a letter from Loretta. She sent me a picture of Lydia. The letter is addressed from her new home on State street. How does she like it? Have you seen it?

At the latest report the White Sox have a 8 - 5 record. Not bad. It's a better start than usual.

They have a radio here at the switchboard and they're really "jazzing" it up. Reminds me of the Playbowl in Cal. City.

I'm tired so I'll sign off for now.
